Week 7

Image
Hey everyone, an interesting week here in Eugene. It's snowed a lot since Sunday and school got cancelled on Monday, delayed on Tuesday, and then cancelled on Wednesday again (today) because of the snow we received Tuesday night. I have never seen this much snow in South Carolina and know if it ever snowed like this in Columbia, school will most certainly be cancelled for the whole week. Anyways, the initial euphoria of the snow wasn't long lived. It was awesome to be able to see the snow fall and enjoy it with other students, but the power went out for several hours and all the stores and shops closed. I couldn't do anything for much of Monday since everything was closed and there was no power. Thankfully, it got restored later Monday night and I was able to do some homework and shower with light. Oregon looks even more beautiful when it's dressed with snow and I'm attaching pictures at the bottom to show you guys. Tomorrow there is a 10 A.M. delay, but I won't

Week 5 & 6

The past week and a half has been incredibly busy for me between managing school, my mom visiting, and doing other trips around Oregon. I went to Portland last Wednesday with the school to see the Portland Trailblazers play the Golden State Warriors. It was a really interesting experience because I have never been to an NBA game before and being able to see the best players like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant play in front of my eyes was rather surreal. I also got to meet some kind international students and listen to their perspectives on adapting to a new region. My mom came to visit me last Thursday, and I rented a car and picked her up from the airport to drive to Seattle. The roads in Oregon and Washington are immensely better than in South Carolina and people drive extremely slow. I haven't driven a car since I left South Carolina so it was actually kind of therapeutic to be able to drive through the mountain side and listen to music. Seattle was a beautiful city although it&

Week 4

Hey everyone, it's been extremely cold in Oregon this past week. The highs have been in the 30s and there have been flurried snow showers throughout the week. I would've taken some pictures of the snow but it didn't stick unfortunately. I've been told from a few friends that it was in the 80s this past week in Columbia. It doesn't even reach the 80s here until June from what I've been told by the locals. Anyways, I told you guys that I was going to go to San Francisco this weekend, but I lied. There's been a change of plans, and now I'm going to Seattle. I have never been to Washington state before, but I can imagine it's almost identical to Oregon. I'll also be in Portland this Wednesday for the Trailblazers Warriors game that was offered to me by exploregon; a program at the University of Oregon that plans fun trips for international and exchange students like myself. Nonetheless, I don't have anything too interesting to share this week. Ju

Week 3

Hey everyone, I apologize for not posting a few days earlier, but I've been extremely busy with midterms and essays. Still trying to get used to the pace of the quarter system here. I haven't done anything too eventful worth sharing this past week because of school so this post should be relatively short. I can't believe I've already been here for a month, and I only have four left to go. Time is flying, and I'm trying to soak up the experience as much as I can. I'm mainly trying to focus on my studies now and working out rather than trying to meet people. I'm going to San Francisco in 11 days, and I'm really excited about that. I'm really missing the fatty foods from the South like Chic-fil-A and barbecue. Everything here is organic or vegan it seems. Anyways, I know only a few people read this but if you have any suggestions as to what you would like to know or for me to talk about, let me know in the comments down below. This is my first time hand
